Malware bytes Anti-malware

This program comes highly recommended from Consultsteimel.  I use the free version if you think you need the pro version by all means get it.  The free version works great, download it, update, run it and it gets rid of anything nasty.  The full version comes with real time protection.  I have a full time antivirus that takes care of that.  While most antivirus programs don't deal with malware all that well, i don't want to have more then 1 program scanning my active documents.

Can Your Body Be A Battery? Yeast powered batteries.

This sounds like its one step closer to machines taking over the world matrix style, but an interesting "what if" question.  Could batteries run off the energy our bodies create?  Our Bodies produce an excess amount of sugar energy and we have to combat that by making insulin to control it.  What if there was batteries that ran off this extra energy that our bodies create?  Its an interesting concept and one that scientists are currently working on.

The first batteries to run off this bio tech are produced using yeast.  The problem with this method is what to do with the waste that is created through yeast cells?  It can't be allowed to enter the blood stream because its toxic, this will be something that will have to be dealt with in time.  The current prototype is 15 millimetres square and 1.4 mm thick producing around 40 nanowatts of power.  A typical watch battery makes about a microwatt of power.  If this was attached to a compacitor it could be enough to power some small devices.  Increasing the surface area of the cell and altering the geneics of the yeast could increase power output.

This is pretty interesting stuff, could energy be produces using these enzymes and living organisms?  Could this be altered so that i can now eat candy bars knowing that the excess sugar is powering my ipod in my pocket?  New Scientist via Gizmodo

Panda is now 1.0

panda

Panda cloud anti virus is the first anti-virus program to use the "cloud" concept.  The cloud refers to the internet and allows programs to use remote locations to do there processing.  This allows the program that runs on you computer to be very small and lite.  This is a huge difference compared to programs like norton 360 and Mcaffee that take up huge amounts of resources.  These programs do provide an enormous amount of tools but for the average user a good anti-virus programs and some smart web serfing is all you need.  The interface is super simple and pretty much is just run it and forget it.  You can also right click on any file or folder to have it check it on demand.  I have been recommending and using Panda cloud since it came to beta.  I haven't had any problem running the beta version except for the fact that it didn't run on Windows 7.  Now that Panda is officially out of beta I still recommend using it.  Its free which is awesome.  The release version focuses even more on the fact that it can be lite so don't worry about it slowing down your computer or running it on a old machine.  Its also good for windows 7 now. Internet Explorer now with Google Chrome under the hood

If your like me you despise internet explorer.  Its not as customizable as Firefox and the thing is damn slow for accessing everything.  Although sometimes its just what you have to use.  Luckily Google has now made it it more desirable to use Internet Explorer.  You can use the Chrome Frame plugin to have chrome render most things in Internet Explorer.  Not only does it use the super fast slick Chrome processes but it also allows the use of HTML5 and enhanced javascript.  Apparently one of the reason that HTML5 is not used more is because IE8 doesn't support it.
