I recently purchased the thermaltake notebook cooling pad. When searching for a notebook cooler portability was the main deciding factor. I needed something i could throw into my notebook bag and use whenever and where ever. I stumbled onto the the Thermaltake iXoft notebook pad. I have been using this pad for about a month and absolutly love it. Here is a quick run down of the good and the bad.

Pros: The thermaltake pad has no fans so its makes no noise. Because of this the pad is super flexible and can fit in any notebook bag. Its perfect for the portable laptop owner who wants a little extra cooling effort.
Cons: The only con is that after extended use, say more then 2 hours, the pad becomes liquad and cn no longer cool effectivly. If you fan intakes are located on the bottom of your laptop this pad will block those intakes and raise temperatures instead of lowering them. My fan intakes are located on the side and therefore work great with this pad.
Cost: I purchased the thermaltake pad through newegg.com for $22.99.
Warrenty: purchased the thermaltake pad through newegg.com for $22.99. Newegg offers a 30 day money back return policy and a 1 year warranty on the product. Thermaltake also offers a one year warrenty.
Size: Ths pad fits all laptops it's dimensions are 353x305x12mm. Perfect fit for 17" laptops

I have a E1505 dell laptop and for the first period it cools it on average about 5 degrees. Using Speedfan i found that temperatures from "temp1" were between 52 and 55 without the pad and after the pad becomes liquid, then 47 and 52 with the pad in solid state. This is a freeware program, please refer to the review section for more information on this product. Then the cooling effect is not noticeable when it becomes liquid. Obviously a fan based cooling pad is going to cool slightly better but then it would make noise and not fit in my laptop bag.

Final thoughts: If your looking for a quite and ultra portable laptop cooler this is it. If you only use your laptop in shorts spurts and don't have intakes on the bottom this is the perfect cooler. Otherwise look at the tradition usb powered fan based coolers. A niche cooler that performs as expected. I would recommend the black pad, mine is already has some black marks on it and they are difficult to get off.
